Structural mezzanine floors
Additional floor space can be created within existing areas when suitable headroom is available by installing a structural steel floor using steel columns, I sections and secondary purlins. Typically 38mm particleboard is used to form the floor surface. Floors can be used for additional storage space, production or offices.
Rack supported floors
Rather than using structural steel to support the floor, pallet racking can be used. This is a more cost effective solution, but potentially offers less flexibility if the ground floor usage may change.
Rack supported walkways
Tiered shelving systems can be designed by supporting walkways directly on a beam attached to the shelving system. Gives very good utilisation of height. Ideal for relatively slow to medium picking rates. More cost effective than structural steel floors.
Building Regulations Application
All raised storage areas and mezzanines require Buildings Regulations approval. Locators can make this application on your behalf and ensure the design meets all of the current requirements for safety, access and fire escape.
