Fully integrated materials handling & storage systems for your business

Live Storage Systems

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE Live Storage Systems

Live Storage Systems

In placing stored goods on rollers, you can speed up loading and reduce travel distances. It also allows for a greater depth of storage than standard storage systems. It’s ideally suited for holding or marshalling areas for finished goods awaiting despatch.

The challenge

Do you need to maximise capacity of your storage system to consolidate loads for despatch, speed up loading, ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) and reduce travel distances?

A live storage system will help you achieve all of these and increase your productivity. Placing the stored product on rollers allows greater depth of storage with less aisles than standard storage systems. This can lead to capacity improvements of 50% or more.

Typical Applications

Boxes Cartons
Trays / Tote Bins Palletised products
– Pallet live and push back systems

The Locators Solution

We supply all types of live storage systems:

Pallet live storage (FIFO)

The pallets are placed from the loading aisle onto rollers that are declined towards the unloading aisle. The system can accommodate in excess of 10 pallets deep and is equipped with brake rollers to slow the movement of loaded pallets in the system. A pallet separator is incorporated into the system to ensure safe, easy retrieval of each pallet when unloading.

Push back racking (LIFO)

Push back racking allows loading and unloading of pallets from the same aisle. This type of storage system can be placed against a wall to maximise the use of available space and a forklift is used to load and push back the pallets. Push back racking does not offer natural stock rotation. It is ideally suited for holding or marshalling areas for finished goods awaiting despatch.

Carton live storage

This system can be fitted to the lower levels of pallet racking (often the replenishment stock is stored above) or as pedestrian accessed shelving. This type of storage system works on the same principle as pallet live or push back racking with goods stored in cartons or totes. The loading of the system and picking is a manual process and it is often utilised in conjunction with pallet racking allowing the palletised bulk storage to be broken down into manageable pick faces.
